Some curiosity about Cartizze

Did you know that Il Cartizze is always in the Dry version?

Traditionally, the glera grapes in Cartizze are harvested a little later than Prosecco Doc. As they are more mature their residual sugar will be higher naturally. For the other types of prosecco, on the other hand, glera grapes are harvested just before their full ripeness and are vinified with a soft pressing.

Just one more curiosity.

It is thought that the name Cartizze comes from "gardiz" as the ancient mats used to dry the grapes were defined, or from "cartiza" which is the peel, let’s say, of the corn in which the bunches were placed to increase their sugar degree. What is certain is that Cartizze is a Cru of the DOCG Valdobbiadene and this means that it is a very small area with characteristics so particular and extraordinary to deserve a further recognition.
